Dr. David L. Drake came to First Baptist Church in Ellijay in June of 2006. He and his wife, Marilyn came to Ellijay from Waycross, Georgia as they were involved in full time ministry with the Central Baptist Church. Dr. Drake is a graduate from the Henry Grady High School in Atlanta. Dr. and Mrs. Drake were married in 1974 and in 1976 moved to Dallas, Texas where he enrolled at Criswell College and graduated with a B.A. degree in Biblical Studies. Dr. Drake finished his Master of Divinity degree at the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas in 1981 and his Doctor of Ministry degree from the Luther Rice Seminary in 1989. The Drakes have had the wonderful privilege to minister in Georgia, Florida, and Texas. Dr. Drake has served on the local, statewide, and national Denominational level. David and Marilyn are the parents of two married sons: Jonathan and Jordan.
